Good pain equals dreams realized

September 30, 2014 by · Comments Off on Good pain equals dreams realized

We have touched on this subject before but I believe it should be considered again. Far too often we romanticize how dreams and aspirations are accomplished. People are given a concept that someone will show up and usher you into the domain of your deepest and cherished dreams in life. I’m sure that this may have happened on occasion, but this is not typical way dreams are realized. Good Pain are those things that does not provide immediate pleasure of relief. By definition Good Pain has pain associated with it; maybe not physical pain but more a level of sacrifice needed to break through where others have faltered. I’ve said it before my Good Pain is running; I truly have not developed a love for running, but I appreciate the value that being in shape has for other areas of my life. It is my belief that the returns you will receive from the Good Pain you invest in, because it is an investment, will yield a tremendous boost to your progress down the path to your destiny. Good Pain will appear to be an inconvenience at the time and will come in different forms to different people. Some may need to read more, pray more, eat less, exercise more, go back to school, you get the idea. The bottom line is incorporate Good Pain into your life and eventually the thing that once was painful will become the thing you master, so push away from the table and get out of your comfortable chair and make today one where Good Pain is on the daily prescription for your life!

What You Go Through Makes You

September 23, 2014 by · Comments Off on What You Go Through Makes You

I was talking to a good friend of mine recently and we were discussing how a person grows and is developed. Now last week we focused on excellence and how it wasn’t an event, but more of a lifestyle and regimented focus. Now another aspect of moving into higher levels of existence is how you handle the ups and downs of life. Some of the most influential people around have overcome many challenges; and their challenges may not differ much from what each of you have gone through. However, like my friend Mark Lewis said last week, “what you go through makes you and if you haven’t gone through much you may not be made of much.” The point is,  embedded in all of your challenges as you march towards excellence are lessons. Don’t look at the struggle as a bad thing, look at it as a divinely positioned lesson along your personal development path. I bet if you reflect, you will quickly realize that some of the things that you are strongest at now were forged through the fires of a adversity. So don’t run from the challenge, embrace each element of it with the assurance that this is just another element of advancement down your path to greatness. So this week if something does not go your way, just focus on what the lesson may be in it and turn the challenge into a teachable moment. Stay positive, stay energetic, and stay hungry as you step into your destiny!

Excellence is Not An Event

This is the thought that I want each of us to focus on this week. You see, excellence is not a one time event or periodical occurrence. On the contrary it is something that is purposeful and intentional. Excellence demands that we don’t put out an average effort and try to masquerade it as our best or an acceptable representation of what you are able to produce. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while; and even people who don’t put out their best may stumble into a good result from time to time. But that is not excellence, it is luck or circumstance, and you can rest assured that the positive results won’t be sustainable until each of us purpose in our hearts to raise the bar in our own lives. So my challenge for you this week it to make excellence the example in your life and not the exception in your life. I look forward to your thoughts and seeing how this next week works out for you. Talk to you soon and never forget that greatness lives in you.

Let’s Take This Journey Together

I am a firm believer that we can accomplish much more together than apart. We all have unique talents and abilities and if we unite these talents, and couple it together with accountability we can move mountains. So this blog will be an effort to walk our path to our unique destinies together. Each week I will post a thought to be focused on, and I welcome your input and comments as we grow and go together.  I truly believe that each one of us will benefit on levels that we have not even imagined; simply because we will all be exposed to different perspectives weekly.  This guided march to increased excellence is one that will help us help others around us; but it first starts with each one of us.  Let’s do this, and I look forward to hearing from you.
